It is hard to select certain events from the long roster that Melbourne offers throughout the year. But below are some of the top festivals, events and
things to do if you happen to be visiting the city between July and September this year.

Run Melbourne

July 23 – July 24th

For all sports enthusiasts whether professional or amateur, on Saturday the event starts with a kids race to get the city into the whole atmosphere.

On Sunday the serious events take place with a 5km run starting proceedings in the morning followed by the longer 10km run and then the main event which is the Brooks half marathon.

Over the last ten years this event has raised over $10 million for more than 400 charities and in 2016 there is a target of $2 million to be raised. Have fun or race competitively but enjoy the day.

Melbourne Film Festival

July 28th – 14th August

Established in 1952 the MIFF (Melbourne International Film Festival) is one of the oldest film festivals in the world. The annual event takes place in the heart of the city presenting the best home produced and international films.

The MIFF since it’s inception has been committed to local film, it is Australia’s largest showcase of new Australian cinema and is the country’s most vocal champion of emerging and established local filmmaking talent.

The Melbourne 4×4 Outdoors Show

August 19th – August 21st

The action-packed outdoors haven for fishermen, boaties and outback tourers. The Melbourne National 4×4 Outdoors Show, Fishing & Boating Expo is not only the longest name for such an event but one of the most extensive in terms of displays and exhibitors.

The event is scheduled to bring tens-of-thousands of fishing, boating, camping and 4×4 products from over 200 leading exhibitors and retailers.

Once again the event will be held at the Melbourne Showgrounds at it will have a dedicated 4WD proving ground, Campfire Cooking Corner, Tackle World Fishing Stage, WAECO Outback Stage and the legendary Action Arena.

Melbourne Spring Fashion Week

August 26th – September 2nd

The MSFW (Melbourne Spring Fashion Week) welcomes the change of season with a full program of events. Highlighting and celebrating Melbourne’s status as a fashion city.

It is very much an event that focuses on the diversity, design, retail and culture that is synonymous with Melbourne.

The event caters to a wide audience with high-calibre runways, independent and mainstream designers contributing to the Australian and Melbourne fashion scenes.

Melbourne Day

August 30th

If you are lucky enough to be in Melbourne on the 30th August then you can enjoy all the fun and frolics on Melbourne day.
Most of the fun starts at Enterprise Park at 9am but there are literally hundreds of events splattered all over the city from
free concerts to family fun events.

Go down to the harbour to see the famous regatta and marvel at the boats sailing gracefully on the waves.
Melbourne day was first held in 1838 so they have had plenty of experience in hosting a spectacular show.
